Hellooooooo! Welcome to the first of many posts I’m planning about random things in my life, I’m thinking I’ll do a post every other weekend, but we’ll see. The topic du jour for this post is farmer’s markets, specifically the Silver Spring Farmer’s Market.
Growing up in rural Pennsylvania I was never without amazing produce. My parents’ live within 10 minutes of 3 road side fruit and veggie stands so our dinners throughout the Spring, Summer, and Fall would be full of fresh corn on the cob, sweet garden grown tomatoes, and juicy peach or berry cobblers.
When I first moved to Silver Spring I was not at all impressed with produce selection at the grocery store (I’m still not, the grocery store nearest me is terrible…) so I would stock up anytime I went home to visit my parents.
I was super happy when I discovered the farmer’s market in downtown Silver Spring, which is open every Saturday. While it’s not nearly as cheap as what I’m used to, it’s great to get delicious, fresh fruits and veggies within walking distance of my apartment. Some of the stands are close to my hometown too š
In addition to the farmer’s market, across the street is the Fenton Street Market, where you can get the most amazing crepes. It’s a little stand under a tent with two burners, so the line can get pretty long.
But the crepes are delicious and well worth the wait! My normal order is the strawberry banana nutella, but I’ve never had a crepe I didn’t like there.
I’ve got a recipe coming to you soon featuring some of my farmer’s market finds, so stay tuned!
