The past 2 months or so…

Hello.  Sooo, I realize it’s been over 2 months since I posted anything on here… oops.  But I’m back now, and you can expect lots of yummy recipes to come, but in the mean time here’s what I’ve been doing since my last post.

September:

*I went to Richmond, VA and completed The Color Run, my first 5K, with my friends Alyssa (check out her blog, it’s witty and insightful), Katie, and Don.  It was a really amazing time, everyone was super nice, and as an added bonus, who doesn’t love running around to upbeat music while being covered in color!

And because this is a food blog, and I take pictures of food at pretty much every restaurant I go to… we ate at the Capital Alehouse the night before the race, which was delicious. I got the smokehouse burger, which is topped with house red eye BBQ sauce, smoked gouda cheese, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, and fried onions, and a side of sweet potato fries, yummm!

On a side note, we ate at McDonald’s for breakfast the morning before the race (breakfast of champions, I know), and I would like to say whoever invented the McGriddle was a culinary genius, an egg sandwich between pancake like bread with syrup pockets, what’s not to love?

*I also went to a few of my 4-year old cousin Caleb’s AYSO soccer games, and while there was never much actual soccer going on, the kids were adorable to watch.

I’m not sure what soccer move this is…

*The leaves also started changing, and I’m obsessed with fall and taking pictures, so here are some lovely fall photos for you to enjoy!

October:

*I celebrated Alyssa’s 21st birthday!!!  We went to Alero in D.C. for some delicious mexican food!

We got some amazing cheese dip as an appetizer and I order the Tacos de Cochinita Pibil, which were corn tortillas with pork in an orange sauce that came with rice, beans, sour cream, and avocado, it was AMAZING!  And the margaritas were great, so if you’re ever in the DC area, I highly suggest you check out Alero.

*Aside from all the fun stuff, I also had to study for and take the GRE and the chemistry GRE.  While the tests were no fun, and I had to get up at ungodly hours to take them, I did manage to take this gorgeous picture as I was leaving the house to take one of the tests before the sun came up one day.

*On October 18th I turned 23 and my parents celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary.  To celebrate we ate at Montezuma‘s, one of my favorite restaurants in Gettysburg, and I got the fajitas tropicales, how can you not love something served in a sizzling pineapple half?

*We had a lot of campfires this fall as well.

*I did a lot of baking, and some pumpkin carving when the weather wasn’t great because of Hurricane Sandy.  I designed these pumpkins and my dad and I carved them.

I made some Halloween sugar cookies.

I baked this delicious Spiced Pear Cake with Brown Butter Icing from Recipe Girl, it was divine, spectacular, make it now!

And last but not least we had this wonderful Baked Spaghetti Squash with Creamy Roasted Red Pepper Sauce.  Even if you don’t like spaghetti squash, the sauce is amazing, and would be great on any kind of pasta.

*For Halloween, some friends and I went to Madam’s Organ in DC for a few drinks.  The place was really decked out for Halloween!

November:

*Alyssa and I took a trip to Miami to visit my friend Spencer, who’s going to law school.  It was a spectacular trip and I’m planning a post about it in the coming days, so stay tuned.

*And  last but not least, this past weekend my family and I went to the annual hayride at our cousin’s house.

So, that’s what I’ve been up to!  Check back here soon, I promise it won’t be another 2 months until my next post.
